Diploma in Dance Education (DDE)

The Diploma in Dance Education focuses on equipping you to train dancers in Graded examinations up to and including Levels 1 and 2 of the National Qualifications Framework.

The objective of this qualification is to provide you with the practical, theoretical knowledge and understanding to become a teacher of dance.
You will be required to undertake supervised teaching practice at a minimum of two different levels and study the theoretical aspects of teaching up to and including Intermediate / Gold.

(The DDE qualification has been accredited by QCA (Accreditation Number 100/4788/8) at level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework which is roughly equivalent to the first year of a degree course).

You will need to be 17 but your 18th birthday must be within the academic year in which you are registered.

For UK teachers, please note your supervised teaching practice will often be organised at one of the UK approved ISTD dance Centres, in the event that you are not able to travel to Germany.

Prior qualifications: Advanced 1 examination of the ISTD or other QCA-approved awarding body in the chosen dance genre along with the Foundation in Dance Instruction.

Successful completion of the Diploma in Dance Instruction is required before proceeding to the Diploma in Dance Education as the principles acquired in the Diploma in Dance Instruction are applied in the practice of teaching.

If you already hold a Dance Teacher qualification such as Associate or

Licentiate and wish to simply upgrade to a DDE, by adding the relevant modules, you will need an APL, based on your prior experience you will generally be exempt from some of the modules.  Please contact me for further information.
